Jessica Miranda Mulligan's & Christopher John Coyier's Wedding Party Details

What Help us celebrate!

Well, hello Hello! our lovely family and friends!

We're having a small wedding party this summer. We would absolutely love it if you could join! It's going to be at our home in Milwaukee, which is a magical time of year to be in Wisconsin.

This will be an intimate-ish of not nearly the number of guests we would have loved to include. Our home is not big enough to handle a party much bigger than this, and so we had to make tough choices. That said, we want our closest family members to have a chance to become friends and we are hoping that everyone stay in Milwaukee for the weekend. Even the Wisconsinites.

This site fulfills, hopefully, all of your information needs for the wedding-party weekend. If we've missed anything, please text, email, call, smoke signal or carrier pigeon us with any questions, at any time.

Please complete our RSVP form.

When It's a summer party!

This is a three-day extravaganza—July 21-23, 2017. If it rains, we'll survive!

Brunchy send-off, hugs and love.

Arriving early?

Come over to the house, and hang out on Thursday evening. We might meander across the street to the beer garden, or walk over to one of local bars and music venues. On Friday, mid-morning, we are renting a pontoon for a riverboat cruise. We'll be getting a headcount for those interested about week before.

How To Pack

Feel free to wear what you want. That said, we want to look nice for you all. It looks like we might get a little rain, and it could be a bit humid. You will have to walk through some grass, so pick your shoes accordingly. Chris and Miranda will be wearing some fancy-pantsy party clothes, but not black-tie.

Photos

We are not hiring a party photographer on Friday or Saturday night. Our plan is to put out a couple of cameras for you all to use, if you want. Also, don't miss the open-air "photobooth" on Friday night. Lots of fun for everyone.

Where Bay View neighborhood, Milwaukee

Our wedding events will be held at our home and at the park across the street from our home. We live in Milwaukee’s Bay View neighborhood, which is on the shores of Lake Michigan, south of the downtown area, directly across from the marina. Saturdays are the days for the official South Shore Park Farmers Market, so the mornings are a bit nuts. Other than from 8a to 2p on Saturdays, there is always street parking available.

Weather-wise, by the water Milwaukee is typically gorgeous in the summer, and can vary from cool to warm to hot. Evenings near the lake hover around 65 to 75 degrees and days are around 80. The weekend forecast says rain, but not a lot, and you should know that we are under a tent on Saturday night.

General Mitchell International Airport is about a 15 minute drive to Bay View or downtown Milwaukee. If you fly into Chicago, allow an extra 2 or 3 hours depending on day and time of arrival. As the date gets closer, we'll be putting together a carpool list. We strongly encourage you to fly into Milwaukee directly.

You'll probably want to arrive Thursday, July 20 or the morning of Friday
We are having a very small party that we are putting together almost entirely on our own. There will be lots to do and ways that the early arrivers can help out.
You'll probably want to depart Sunday, July 23 or the morning of Monday
We cannot stress enough just how lovely Milwaukee is at this time of year.

Where to stay

We highly recommend that you book your accommodations as soon as possible as Milwaukee sells out quickly during the summer. There are two large conferences, that we know of, many festivals and the state fair. At the minimum, you’ll want two nights starting July 21. Here are our recommendations:

Who It's a small party.

We're incredibly touched that all you amazing people from around the country will be together soon. We realize that we are asking a lot of you—staying in Milwaukee for 3+ days—and are deeply touched by your willingness to contribute to our unconventional wedding-party.

Again, this is a small party largely taking place at our home, with the intention of all our family and friends getting a chance to get to know each other better.

If you do not see your name below, please fill out the RSVP form immediately. As each of you confirm with us, we’ll add your names below:

F A Qs

Am I required to be at all three days?
Of course not.
Can I borrow an instrument? I don’t want to have to travel with mine.
Of course! We insist. Let us know what instrument that you’d like to play.
Will there be kids? And, how kid-friendly are each of the events?
Yes. Ages range from babies to teenagers. Plus, a couple dogs. There will be lots to do, and we are offering to help coordinate baby-sitting for parents who want to play past kid bath and bedtime. On Saturday night, during the sit-down dinner, we are providing a couple of babysitters at the house to watch movies and Netflix with any kiddos who want some relaxing screentime and popcorn.
We have some extra time in Milwaukee, where should we eat?
We have some extra time in Milwaukee, what should we do?
  • Milwaukee has some wonderful farmers market and the one across the street from our home on Saturday's in very popular. Others to check out in West Allis, Garden District and Walker's Square.
  • Festa Italiana is July 21-23, and at the Summerfest grounds.
  • Gallery Night (and day) weekend in Third Ward.
  • Milwaukee Public Market, also located in Third Ward.
  • Museums! Milwaukee Art Museum and the Harley-Davidson Museum are fantastic.
  • Kid stuff! Lots to do at the lakefront. Also, the Betty Brinn Children's Museum and Discovery World.
  • Brewer's are out of town, so it might not be the best week for a Miller Park visit.
